Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU)

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly known as UP Technical University (UPTU), is one of India's premier and largest technical universities, established in 2000. AKTU was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the year 2000. It was founded under the Uttar Pradesh Technical University Act, 2000. The institute has 35.17 acres of green campus area. AKTU is a "University of National Importance," particularly for the undergraduate and graduate programs in science and engineering. In addition to being a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), AKTU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Faculty of Architecture Lucknow, the Centre for Advanced Studies, the Faculty of Management Studies, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the UP Institute of Design Noida are the six component faculties/institutions currently making up AKTU Lucknow.

The Flagship program at AKTU is B.Tech, which is offered across 41 different specialisations via JEE Main and CUET UG entrance examinations. Apart from this, the University has 750+ affiliated colleges and institutes under its name. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, offers various UG, PG, and PhD courses across the streams of Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture, Hotel Management, and Business Management, among others. AKTU admissions are mostly entrance-based. Admissions to AKTU are done based on scores obtained in the national-level entrance examinations such as CUET UG, CUET PG, JEE Main, CMAT, etc.

AKTU Lucknow has not released the Placement report for 2025 till now. According to the Placement Report 2024, approximately 70-80% of students registered for placement got placed. The highest salary package offered was 49 LPA, which was offered to a student of IET Lucknow, which is affiliated with AKTU Lucknow, and the average salary package offered was between 6 - 8 LPA across AKTU-affiliated colleges. Top recruiters are Amazon, Google, TCS, Wipro, IBM, Oracle, Samsung, and Barclays.
